Increasingly, the BeSTRO/BARO board is being asked to respond to or take positions on a wide range of issues. Until now, these matters have been prepared for board meetings by ad hoc working groups. The positive experience with the Centralisation Head & Neck Task Force (TF) has demonstrated the added value of a more proactive approach and underscores the need to expand the number of task forces.

A task force is an advisory body to the BeSTRO/BARO board. The board may mandate a task force to prepare responses to requests from external bodies such as the FOD, RIZIV, FANC, and others. The task force will be invited to a board meeting to finalize documents, preferably by consensus. Where appropriate, a task force may also take the initiative to bring matters to the attention of the board. However, a task force cannot act independently of the board.

The composition of a task force—including the replacement, addition, or withdrawal of members—requires the approval of the BeSTRO/BARO board. All communication should be conducted via info@bestro.be, and members interested in participating in a task force are asked to contact the secretariat. Although there is no fixed limit on the number of members per task force, attention should be paid to balanced representation of both language communities, academic and non-academic centers, and, where possible, gender balance. If a proposed task force member is not a BeSTRO/BARO member, a brief explanatory motivation should be provided.
