In Memoriam: Dr François-Xavier Otte For more than 20 years, Dr. Otte devoted his career to radiation oncology at the Jules Bordet Institute. After completing his five years of specialist training there, he went on to spend his entire career at the Institute, progressing from resident to senior staff physician. Over the years, he developed a recognized expertise in the multidisciplinary treatment of prostate cancer and made a major contribution in several practice changing clinical trials. Dr. Otte was greatly appreciated by his patients for his humanity and dedication, and by his colleagues for his kindness and availability. He was also a valued member of the Belgian radiation oncology community and of BeSTRO. Over the years, he contributed actively to the training and teaching of radiation oncology residents and took active part in BeSTRO’s annual scientific meetings. He was also board member of BMUC for many years. Beyond his clinical and educational activities, he was deeply involved in the life of the Jules Bordet Institute, serving as a member of its Medical Council for more than six years and actively contributing to the development of the institution. His passing is a great loss to his colleagues at the Jules Bordet Institute and to the wider Belgian radiation oncology community. We will remember him as a dedicated physician, a highly valued colleague, and above all, a compassionate person. On behalf of BeSTRO, we extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, colleagues and all those who had the privilege of knowing and working with him. |
